what is tarot, anyway, and how does it work?
What it is: Tarot is a divinatory practice that’s been around since the 15th century. It can be used in many ways, but for me, tarot acts as a mirror to reflect what the F is going on.
It will give you a picture of the energies at play in your life, invitations, opportunities, and where you have room for healing or growth.
Tarot can show you how to actively and purposefully work with what you have to manifest your desired outcome.
Tarot illuminates the shadows.
How it works: Different practitioners believe different things about the role of magic in a tarot reading. I’m pretty much all the way on the “magic” side of this spectrum. When I give a reading, I drop into a mental and energetic headspace that most easily allows me to be a channel for divine information. I connect to my own spirit guides and ancestors and also yours (I believe we all have them), and open myself to anything that needs to come in and out of me. This then gets expressed through the cards.
What are my limitations as a tarot reader?
I don’t believe tarot can tell you your exact future or fate. I believe in free will, and telling you exactly what will happen doesn’t seem right and feels more fear-based than I’m comfortable with. Instead, I will show you areas of focus to direct your energy, opportunities for growth, or potential paths to take
I can’t tell you what’s going on with anyone else. I don’t know if that person loves you or not, if your partner is cheating, if your boss hates you. I can , however, help you flesh out your own feelings surrounding a relationship with another person, and the energies currently present within yourself.
I am not a therapist, a doctor, or a lawyer. It isn’t ethical for me to dispense advice regarding these topics, but I can give you resources if needed.
I will not shy away from telling you what the cards are telling me, even if it’s tough. I will always deliver the more challenging messages in the most compassionate way possible, with the most respect for your nervous system. My practice is not fear-based, and there will be no doom and gloom in your reading, but sometimes energies come up that you’ve been trying to avoid. I’m here to hold space for you while we work through it.
I am not a medium, and don’t feel comfortable working with the spirits of those who have passed on.
What if I can’t afford a reading?
I whole-heartedly believe that healing modalities, like tarot, should be accessible to everyone. If you feel financially unable to buy a reading but feel called to my work, please email me and I can figure out a sliding scale rate, payment plan, or other mode of energy exchange (let’s bring back bartering!). I especially feel called to use sliding scale rates to support people who identify as trans / non-binary / POC / immigrants.
